Every Morning the Most Popular Girl at School Sits Next to Me on the Train – 48 (Final)

[There is no next time.]

Just reading the words from the message, it seemed like it was an angry one. It was from Itou-san who I had backed out of a promise with yesterday.

According to her, she had waited for more than an hour after that and sent me many messages as well. After I returned home and I noticed, I apologized over and over again and somehow got her to forgive me. However, there was already no time, and it seems that I can’t see the newly made manuscript.

Well, it was completely my fault so it can’t be helped. Next time I meet with Itou-san, I’ll apologize to her wholeheartedly. After all, the normally kind Itou-san was truly angry. While thinking about such things, I move my eyes away from my smartphone screen. Then, at 7:30 in the morning, I leave my home just like usual.

Riding on my bike for about 20 minutes, I arrive at the station. Just a month earlier, a short bike like this would’ve made me sweat, but now sweat doesn’t come. The season really does change quickly.

Going out onto the platform, there was a sparse amount of people. It was just a normal everyday occurrence. I stop my feet at my usual spot, and pull out my smartphone.

Speaking of which, I didn’t get to play Human Beast Wars yesterday. I had promised to play with my party too. I must have caused a lot of trouble for a lot of people yesterday, didn’t I? Thinking about all of this, I start up the app for Human Beast Wars.

As expected, there was still the history of my party members going on quests without me. Ahh~, people will be angry at me again…

While I made a nervous face, a message came from the in-game chat.

[Yosshii-san, did something happen yesterday?]

The person who sent such a lively chat was Ryoma-san. I can probably say that he is my best in-game friends.

[I had some plans. Sorry.]

[It’s alright, it’s alright. Next time, let’s go again.]

[Yeah, thanks.]

After having such a light conversation, Ryoma-san went offline.

I got a strange vibe from Ryouma-san. If it were like normal, we would go on quests with the just the two of us, but he quickly logged off today instead. I couldn’t help but think he was angry.

Then, the train comes into the station on time as usual. There weren’t many people inside the train as expected. I sit down in my normal spot. Then.

“Good morning, Yoshiki-kun.”

Saying that, a girl casually sat down beside me. Long black hair, a neat face, the most beautiful girl at school, and my current girlfriend Mamiko. I confessed to her yesterday and was able to make up with her. I was so happy that I thought I would die. Well, after that I saw Itou-san’s messages and was brought back to reality though.

Still, when we met yesterday, there was something I was curious about. That handsome guy from yesterday. Who exactly was that? I tried asking Mamiko yesterday, and she said it was a relative. My guess was amazingly correct.

It seems that her relative was hospitalized nearby, and she was planning on going to visit him. When I saw her at the family restaurant before, it seems like it was after she went to visit him. Also, it seems like she confided with him about me. If it was like that, I can understand why he was a little bit mad.

While I was thinking about yesterday, Mamiko smiled and looked at me.

“What is it?”

“No, it’s nothing~”

“I see.”

There’s no way it’s nothing if she has a face like that, but she won’t say anything if I ask so I don’t ask further. Being like this when it’s just the two of us is fine, but it’s difficult on the train when there are so many eyes around us.

While thinking that, Mamiko continued to stick to me without any bad thoughts. Suddenly, I thought.

My girlfriend, the most beautiful girl at school was sitting next to me, and I was now very very happy.

    • Sob, so this is the last chap. So sad that Echizen-san-chan-sama didn’t get the ending that she deserved more than Mamiko does. And yeah I agree that in the first chapters this has a lot of potential but got really bad that lead us to this blanf ending… Well it was still a good ride. Congrats on finishing your first novel project!

      • I hope the author at least writes different endings. because this totally feels like it could be done like that. I’m not sure how the author made the childhood friend more integral to the story than echizen while only being in like 4 chapters. if echizen was removed from the story it wouldn’t have changed at all. even though she was best girl.

  1. Thanks for the TL, but it’s too bad about echizen ending up being a worthless character who added nothing to the story.

    • As a fellow LotR freak, I friggin love your profile name XD hahaha, been like my fav movies since i was little… Even now, i listen to the soundtrack every night to help me sleep, and can still tell almost exactly where the movie would be just off the music XD hahaha

  2. Something doesn’t sit right with me. It felt as if things were just starting to develop, and now it’s over? I need more closure ;-;

  3. Novel went downhill after his dumb idiot Girlfriend broke up for some petty crap and it turned into Bakuman the novel anyway.
Thanks for finishing this novel. Hope your next translation work is a good series since your TL work is fast.

  4. The manga plot just some after though that scrapped. This story feels like a axed manga, have potential, goes to weird direction, then finished prematurely 😅

  5. Damnit! At the time I started reading this chapter I expected more content but the page was 1/3 story 2/3 comments already T.T

If this was a gal game maybe this is the only “Good Ending” because when he dates another girl Mamiko will go full Yandere mode and kill him~? =<

  6. I’m kinda disappointed… I mean, I hoped that it’ll turn into a good story somehow but I guess my expectations too high… Still, it’s at least decent as a time killer.

    Thanks for the story~~~!

  7. my only thought was (this girl must’ve seriously lied about him being a relative and that the “relative” probably became her lover since after the break up…

  8. I really liked the whole story, up until the last chapter. It feels SO bland it’s stupid. I mean, Echizen thing just left a huge hole that makes you feel somewhat empty, things with Mamiko were kind of weird. I mean I understand why their relationships would be awkward considering what kind of people they both are but at the ending I really expected something more, you know? When you leave it like this, it feels like just another relationship that’ll only last for like a year or until they are out of the highschool at most. With how immature they both are I really can’t see them being able to continue this relationship throughout their college lives and maybe even further and I really hate that. I hate reading and entire romance novel just to know that the main characters who got together after going through some shit is just another couple that won’t be able to continue being together for much longer… It makes me feel like I wasted my time reading this.

  9. Thanks for translating this series. At the start this had really good potential but it started being bland and weird at some point. Personally, I feel that considering this is a short but fast paced series the pacing had been not done well. And the main female character wasn’t in the story as much as she should have been. There was not much development regarding some areas too. Over all, I guess I will give this a 3/5.

  10. THIS! THIS Novel might actually be THAT novel the MC had made and was bashed for being too abrupt or bad ending, a story closely related to reality with fictionally added/twisted elements.
